Subject: Sergio deserves a medal....I kid you not.
Yesterday I came to your business with 6 or 7 bags of groceries and snacks to send to a military person going to Afghanistan, who I do not know, but whose grandmother is a dear friend of our friend, of our family. It was about 4:30, and your place was pretty busy, and the rush was on to get some stuff out by 5pm. I wanted to stay there package it and send it out, but Sergio insisted he would take care of it, and send it out the next day.
I then said, that I want to take care of it financially, but he insisted 3 times for me not to worry. I tried very hard to pay. He would not let me.
David, I left crying. Tears come to my eyes as I am writing to you now. I have seen many charitable acts in my life, but that one touched me more than any other. I bought 5 foot longs for your crew at Subway, and brought them back. Tears were in my eyes all the way home.
In 1968 we lost my favorite uncle in Vietnam, on his second tour. It hurts to this day. I remember an unopened package that came back to our house. For years I have been wanting to do something. It is no biggy, but I spent over $100 and wanted to and expected to pay for shipping and the package. I did not want a break, or a discount, I just wanted to give you the business. I live near the Beverly Center, so it was an attempt to do good for everybody.
I beg you to recognize and acknowledge to Sergio his kind and generous deed. I also know, that it is you also who shares in this gesture.
Thank you for hearing me out. I hope to have lunch with you when you get back.
All the best,
A Happy Customer
